Golfing in Turkey

The 2012 World Golf Championship is to be held in Turkey.

Following on from the vote in Adelaide Australia, Turkey will be hosting the Grand Organization World Golf Championship in 2012. Voting results placed Turkey way ahead of Austria and Italy.

Turkey got 76 out of 92 participant country votes. Interestingly this the first time Turkey has applied to host the Grand Organization World Golf Championship. It is also the first time the International Golf Federation will be awarding the Championship to a country on its first application. Further more The Turkish Golf federation which was established in 1996, is the newest member of the International Golf Federation.

This is an important result for Turkey and will further establish the country as a golfing destination.
